1. Agreement
By downloading, installing, purchasing, accessing, or using ActionClip, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use ActionClip.
You must be legally able to enter into this agreement where you live. If you use ActionClip for an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these terms for that organization.
2. The service
ActionClip is a macOS productivity utility that detects selected text, displays actions near the selection, and can run local transformations, user-created scripts, app automations, online AI requests, translations, links, commands, and other workflows.
Some features require macOS permissions, compatible hardware or operating-system features, an internet connection, a third-party account or API key, or a paid license. Features and compatibility may change as ActionClip, macOS, and third-party services evolve.
3. License to use ActionClip
Subject to these terms, ActionClip grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app for lawful personal or internal business purposes.
- Free plan: may be used within the action limits shown in the app or on the website.
- Individual plan: may be activated on one Mac at a time.
- Team plan: may be activated on up to five Macs at a time for you and members of your team or organization.
You may remove a license from a Mac to free that activation for another eligible Mac. License keys must be kept confidential and may not be published, sold, rented, or shared beyond the purchased activation allowance.
4. Lifetime plans
A “lifetime” plan is a one-time license for the commercial lifetime of ActionClip. It includes updates that ActionClip makes generally available to that plan during that period without an additional license fee.
You may continue using a lawfully obtained installed version for as long as it remains functional and compatible with your Mac. A lifetime plan does not guarantee that ActionClip, every online service, model, provider, feature, or future macOS version will remain available or compatible forever.
5. Purchases, taxes, and refunds
ActionClip purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, the merchant of record. Its checkout terms, payment methods, tax handling, receipts, chargeback process, and terms apply to the transaction.
ActionClip offers a 30-day, no-questions-asked refund period for paid lifetime plans. To request a refund, use the contact form and include the purchaser email or order information. Statutory consumer rights continue to apply where they provide greater protection.
A full refund, payment reversal, chargeback, fraudulent purchase, disabled license key, or material breach of these terms may deactivate the associated paid entitlement. Removing a license from one Mac is not a refund and does not disable the underlying license key.
6. Your content and custom actions
You retain ownership of text, prompts, scripts, commands, templates, links, and other content you provide or create. You grant ActionClip only the limited rights needed to process that content and perform the action you request.
You are responsible for reviewing and safely using custom actions. Terminal commands, AppleScript, URLs, JavaScript, external AI prompts, and other automations can modify data, control apps, open websites, expose text to third parties, or produce unexpected results. Back up important data and test workflows before relying on them.
7. Online actions and AI output
Online actions are optional and can send selected text and instructions to ActionClip's backend or a provider you choose. Third-party terms and privacy policies apply to those services.
AI, translation, conversion, and generated outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, offensive, insecure, or unsuitable for your purpose. Do not rely on ActionClip or generated output as professional medical, legal, financial, security, or other high-stakes advice. You are responsible for reviewing output before using, publishing, or acting on it.
ActionClip may limit, suspend, replace, or discontinue a temporary online feature when needed for capacity, security, abuse prevention, provider availability, or product changes.
8. Acceptable use
You may not use ActionClip to:
- Violate law, intellectual-property rights, privacy rights, contractual restrictions, or the rights of another person.
- Distribute malware, steal credentials, evade security controls, harass people, or facilitate fraud or unauthorized access.
- Interfere with ActionClip's services, probe them without authorization, bypass rate or trial limits, or defeat license activation controls.
- Resell, sublicense, rent, redistribute, or make the app or a license key available beyond the rights you purchased.
- Reverse engineer or circumvent technical protections except where applicable law expressly permits it.
9. Updates and changes
ActionClip may provide fixes, security updates, compatibility changes, new features, or removals. You control whether optional automatic update checks and installation are enabled in the app, but some online features may require a supported version for security or compatibility.
ActionClip may change free-plan limits, temporary AI allowances, provider availability, pricing for future purchases, and product features. Changes do not retroactively convert an existing one-time paid license into a subscription.
10. Ownership
ActionClip, its software, website, visual design, trademarks, logos, documentation, and original materials are owned by ActionClip or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms do not transfer ownership to you.
Feedback and feature suggestions may be used to improve ActionClip without restriction or compensation, provided ActionClip does not claim ownership of your confidential content or custom actions merely because you submitted feedback.
11. Third-party services
ActionClip can connect to macOS features and third-party services such as Lemon Squeezy, Cloudflare, AI providers, Microsoft Translator, browsers, note apps, task apps, UserJot, Tally, and other applications. ActionClip does not control and is not responsible for third-party availability, security, output, pricing, policies, or changes.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ActionClip is provided “as is” and “as available.” ActionClip disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, and error-free operation.
Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ActionClip will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business interruption arising from the app or services.
ActionClip's total liability arising from the app, services, or these terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for ActionClip during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or USD $25. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law or to liability that cannot legally be limited.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using ActionClip at any time. ActionClip may suspend online services or terminate a license for fraud, abuse, unauthorized distribution, security threats, chargebacks, or material breach of these terms. Where reasonable, ActionClip will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue.
Terms concerning ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limits, and other provisions that by their nature should survive will remain effective after termination.
15. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated to reflect product, business, provider, or legal changes. The effective date at the top will be updated. Material changes will be communicated where required, and continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
16. General terms and contact
If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and purchase terms shown at checkout, form the agreement concerning ActionClip.
Questions, refund requests, and legal notices can be submitted through the ActionClip contact form.
