What Bold does

ActionClip uses the editor's native formatting route when available. A read-only source stays unchanged and opens the selected text in a result popup.

How to use it

  1. Select the text you want to use in any supported Mac app.
  2. Choose Bold from the ActionClip widget or its More menu.
  3. Review the result, or continue in the destination app when the action opens one.

Settings

Open the action's settings from:

ActionClip Settings → Actions → Bold → gear
ActionClip Display settings with Icon with Label, Icon only, and Label only options
Bold uses these three Display styles in the floating widget.

Display

Choose how this action appears in the floating widget. This changes only its presentation, not what it does.

  • Icon with Label
  • Icon only
  • Label only

Changes are saved automatically.

You can also replace this action's icon from ActionClip → Actions. See change an action icon.

When ActionClip suggests it

Bold is available whenever it is enabled. It is not limited to a specific content detector.

Enabled actions remain available in your Actions list even when Smart Suggestions do not promote them for the current selection.

Requirements and privacy

  • Works locally and does not require Online Actions.
  • In-place formatting requires an editor that exposes a supported bold command.
  • Validated Google Docs and PowerPoint text selections keep their source-editor formatting routes.
Italic Italic asks the source editor to toggle italic styling on the current selection. Underline Underline applies or removes underline styling through the current editor. Clear Formatting Clear Formatting removes character styling such as font, weight, color, and emphasis while preserving the selected text.
