What Add to Note does

Apple Notes targets the selected note. Bear, Obsidian, and UpNote activate an existing note window before a clipboard-preserving paste. Antinote appends through its local URL action.

How to use it

  1. Open or select the note you want to extend in the configured note app.
  2. Select text in another app and choose Add to Note.
  3. ActionClip activates the note destination and appends the selected content.

When ActionClip suggests it

Add to Note is promoted for read-only selections. For long text it appears before AI suggestions; for short text it follows Create Note.

Enabled actions remain available in your Actions list even when Smart Suggestions do not promote them for the current selection.

Requirements and privacy

  • Bear, Obsidian, and UpNote must already be running with a note window available.
  • Changing Note App updates both note actions.
  • ActionClip reports missing app, window, note, AppleScript, URL, or paste failures in the result card.
