What Character Count does

Enable either count or both. Counts sit outside the saved Widget length budget.

How to use it

  1. Open Actions → Auto Suggestions.
  2. Enable Character Count.
  3. Select text to see its character count in the widget.

Settings

Open the action's settings from:

ActionClip → Actions → Auto Suggestions → Character Count

Character Count

Show or hide character counts with the checkbox. The gear contains Remove Action.

  • On
  • Off
  • Remove Action

Changes are saved automatically.

You can also replace this action's icon from ActionClip → Actions. See change an action icon.

When ActionClip suggests it

The count is shown for selected text when enabled.

Enabled actions remain available in your Actions list even when Smart Suggestions do not promote them for the current selection.

Requirements and privacy

  • Counting stays on the Mac.
  • Restore a removed count action from the in-app Marketplace.
Word Count Word Count adds a live selection count to the widget for quick length checks. Copy Copy sends the current selection to the Mac clipboard without changing the source text.
