What Color Preview does
ActionClip parses the complete selection as a color instead of searching inside unrelated text. Its leading chip combines a true color swatch with the selected or configured notation, and its result lists the equivalent HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV/HSB, HWB, OKLCH, and CMYK values.
How to use it
- Select one complete color value, such as #7C3AED or rgb(124, 58, 237).
- Choose the leading Color Preview chip.
- Review the swatch and copy the color notation you need from the local result.
Example
#7C3AED
rgb(124, 58, 237) hsl(262.1, 83.3%, 57.8%) oklch(55.8% 0.252 293.1)
Settings
Open the action's settings from:
ActionClip Settings → Actions → Auto Suggestions → Color Preview → gearDisplay format
Choose the notation shown beside the swatch in the leading widget chip.
Display
Choose how this action appears in the floating widget. This changes only its presentation, not what it does.
Changes are saved automatically.
You can also replace this action's icon from ActionClip → Actions. See change an action icon.
When ActionClip suggests it
Color Preview has first priority when the entire selection is one supported color value. It does not trigger for a color code embedded in unrelated prose.
Enabled actions remain available in your Actions list even when Smart Suggestions do not promote them for the current selection.
Requirements and privacy
- Works locally and does not require Online Actions.
- The complete trimmed selection must use a supported color notation.
- The selected display format changes only the compact chip; the result continues to show all supported conversions.
