What Strikethrough does

Because strikethrough shortcuts are not universal on macOS, ActionClip uses source-editor commands and only uses a keyboard fallback for validated Google Docs.

How to use it

  1. Select the text you want to use in any supported Mac app.
  2. Choose Strikethrough from the ActionClip widget or its More menu.
  3. Review the result, or continue in the destination app when the action opens one.

Settings

Open the action's settings from:

ActionClip Settings → Actions → Strikethrough → gear
ActionClip Display settings with Icon with Label, Icon only, and Label only options
Strikethrough uses these three Display styles in the floating widget.

Display

Choose how this action appears in the floating widget. This changes only its presentation, not what it does.

  • Icon with Label
  • Icon only
  • Label only

Changes are saved automatically.

You can also replace this action's icon from ActionClip → Actions. See change an action icon.

When ActionClip suggests it

Strikethrough remains available whenever the action is enabled.

Enabled actions remain available in your Actions list even when Smart Suggestions do not promote them for the current selection.

Requirements and privacy

  • Works locally and does not require Online Actions.
  • The source must expose a supported strikethrough command for in-place formatting.
  • Read-only selections are shown as output rather than changed.
Bold Bold asks the source editor to toggle bold formatting on the selected text. Italic Italic asks the source editor to toggle italic styling on the current selection. Clear Formatting Clear Formatting removes character styling such as font, weight, color, and emphasis while preserving the selected text.
