What Open Link does

It accepts HTTP and HTTPS URLs plus recognized bare domains and paths. Bare domains are normalized to HTTPS, while domains inside email addresses are ignored.

How to use it

  1. Select a URL or domain such as actionclip.app.
  2. Choose Open Link from ActionClip.
  3. The address opens using the configured browser behavior.

Settings

Open the action's settings from:

Open Link uses your current default browser and can open links with its default behavior, in a new tab, or in a new window.

Browser

Choose how the current default browser should open detected links when its automation is supported.

  • Default behavior
  • New tab
  • New window

Display

Choose how this action appears in the floating widget. This changes only its presentation, not what it does.

  • Icon with Label
  • Icon only
  • Label only

Changes are saved automatically.

You can also replace this action's icon from ActionClip → Actions. See change an action icon.

When ActionClip suggests it

Open Link is a priority suggestion when ActionClip detects an HTTP(S) URL or a recognized bare domain/path.

Enabled actions remain available in your Actions list even when Smart Suggestions do not promote them for the current selection.

Requirements and privacy

  • Requires Online Actions because it opens an external website.
  • New tab and New window are supported for Safari and Chromium-family default browsers; other browsers fall back to default behavior.
  • Email-contained domains are excluded so email selections can trigger Add Contact instead.
Web Search Web Search sends the selected text to your configured search engine and browser target. Maps Maps extracts a likely place or address from the selection and opens it in your chosen maps destination. Add Contact Add Contact detects the first email address in a selection and creates a contact in your chosen destination.
